Saying “No” — and sticking to it — is a skill that it has taken me years to (almost) master. Although it can feel a little uncomfortable to draw boundaries, this skill absolutely vital to have in your toolbox as a business owner, and especially as a mompreneur. Chances are, much of your time is spent serving other peoples’ agendas, from creating no-bake cheesecake bars for the bake sale to serving on a Board of Directors for a community organization… and this is on top of driving to swim practice, picking up from sleepovers, or doing the weekly grocery shop!
With such a limited amount of time available to us, we MUST ensure that we are taking on the tasks and opportunities that are worth our time and energy. And when it comes to our businesses, we need to make sure that we’re saying “Yes!” to the tasks and opportunities that are most aligned with our goals — and in order to do that, we can’t let ourselves be caught up with projects and clients that aren’t serving our greater purpose.
Remember: when one door closes, a million doors open!
